Out walking the hound yesterday and spotted what looked like a “mini lobster” in a stream…it’s at the bottom of the pic between 5 and 6 o’clock in the first pic…middle of the second. I have a video too.

Awful things for our waterways, we're encouraged to eat as much as we can of them.

No they aren't. Invasive Signal crayfish are. The natives are just part of the bio diversity.

That looks native to me - no brown red colouring.

OP I'd guide here... https://cdn.buglife.org.uk/2019/07/Final-Crayfish-...

Thanks all and thanks TGCOTF for that link...found an App through that called iRecord where you can submit sightings. Will do so.

I found one as a kid. It was fascinating. The native ones need a lot of help and protection from the invasive signals.

I never said which ones... getmecoatlaugh

You are correct though, I think it was an episode of the F Word where they caught the Signals and ate them. Think you need a catching permit from the council or EA though but can't be 100% on that.

In the link above it says you need a license to catch them.

You need a licence to catch an invasive species? That makes little sense to me.

It’s not invasive but that can still apply. Where we used to live there is a pollution of Glis (think a 2/3 size squirrel) they come into houses and can cause a lot of damage. Was introduced to the UK by one of the Rothschild’s in Victorian times….you need a license to kill/catch them… they’re a fking nightmare !
