For some time now, we've had an unidentified cat pooing in the very same spot in the middle of the grass in the back garden, and more recently in some raised flower beds and dangerously close to some veg. I'm not sure who owns the cat but I've caught the beast on numerous occasions, so I know it's not ours. The second I open the back door to 'shoo' it away or stealthily sneak around to grab the hose, it runs away presumably because it knows it shouldn't be there.

I'm not quite sure who the cat belongs to, but it's becoming rather tiresome having to survey the garden before cutting the grass or doing any tidying up or harvesting lovely fresh vegetables, and cleaning another cat's poo up from our grass and flower/veg beds. I've tried one of those high-pitched sonar sensor things, which did nothing. Also tried some orange/citrus spray and tubs of what looks like ash sprinkled around very liberally, but nothing seems to be stopping the black and white furry pooing machine. The citrus spray is horrible, it just gets right up my nose and leaves me sneezing for minutes after so I assume it has the same effect on cats.

ETA: This is the orange spray https://www.diy.com/departments/defenders-pest-spr... (hadn't read the reviews before -- they are quite humorous)

Can anybody suggest some products or methods to stop this happening? I can only hope that mine is doing its business right in the middle of the pooing cat's owner's garden as well.

Assuming your cat will not fall victim and/or can be kept indoors temporarily then there are some quite amusing cat deterrent videos on YT for inspiration that involve garden hoses and PIR sensors etc.

Bits of rag soaked in Jeyes fluid.

Get a lurcher.

No cats.

No birds.

No wildlife at all will be tolerated without a swift pursuit and barking.

Be perfect if it didn't leave its own mess everywhere.
