With great sadness and regret I had to let me best friend go on Thursday night , he took his last breath at 1838 with me whispering in his ears how much he meant to me and how much I was going to miss him

That was Brodie just before I got him , he was six weeks old in that photo

Doing his second favourite thing , sleeping in front of the log burner
His favourite was walks with me

You got old and the legs just didn’t work as well as they did but you still could do a short walk
Then really it was only the garden or round the block you could manage

So we had to make the decision to release you from your pain aged 13 years 5 months so you stayed with us longer than we expected after your epilepsy diagnosis when you was 7yo
Run free and run far Big Brodie , please wait for me at the bridge as I need to see you again
I miss you Brodie and please know you was loved deeply .

What a handsome boy Brodie was, from puppy to elderly gent smile

Your post demonstrates the love you had for him; what a lucky boy he was to be with you for so long.

Run free at the Bridge, Brodie, all young and well again. I am thinking of your humans who are missing you so badly frown

Dusty in here.

13 and a half years, though. That’s a good life.

So sorry to read this.

I skipped over reading the post all day because I guessed the content and knew nothing I could write would make anything better but now that the dust in here has settled I'm sure you'll appreciate a stranger saying that he looked like a happy chap.

It gets easier here on in, the pain never disappears but it turns into a happy pain of memories and only enough dust in your eye to get away with it.

13 years is a good innings.

RIP Brodie have a biscuit and ball chase with my boy up there.

Sorry for your loss Frank, we have had to do it twice in short succsssion here, and it is just brutal.....

I have no words that will make you feel better, nor stop the tears, but eventually, time will help the pain subside and you can then start to look back and laugh and enjoy the memories you made together....

Sat at work reading that and it got pretty dusty here. How terribly sad for you. We have two who are 13.5 years old, and know it's inevitable but it doesn't make it any easier. Thoughts are with you.

Just come across this, it's brought back many happy and sad memories of my old boy Harley he was a giant who frightened everyone but was a soft as anything. This photo was taken in 2002 and you can see he is going very grey around the muzzle. Very sad towards the end as he couldn't walk far but on the odd occasion escaped and I would have to take a wheeled trolley down our road and pick him up as he had just collapsed in a heap, I guess it was a habit that was hard for him to break.

It's not nice. My first bloke hid his problems from us and crawled into his bed to pass over. I was upset that he'd not told me he'd problems. But when they are programed to hide all symptoms ,what do you do?
