Online pet medication
Discussion
My cat needs thryonorm for hyperthyroidism. After four months it's going well and the dose is fine-tuned.
For a 100ml bottle my vet charges £103. www.petdrugsonline.co.uk can supply it for £51 inc postage. However they want to see a prescription before they'll send it, and my vet wants £25 to supply one. I sent them a scan of the label on the current pack, which has all the details they require, but they are insisting on a prescription.
Am I over a barrel, losing half the saving, or can anyone recommend a supplier that would be able to supply on sight of the current label?

you need a prescription by law, not just a copy of the label.
I can understand that, but you can get medication for humans online without a prescription. Aren't human lives worth more?jammy-git said:
I have this with my dog. It's annoying because yes, the vet basically has you over a barrel, but ask them for a repeat prescription, which can then be used multiple times online.
That's a great idea, and would help spread the extra. Thanks! ETA - it has just arrived by e-mail. Can't fault the service - but it's only single use, which is hard to understand as the cat will need that medication continually.
