Does anyone regularly apply spot on flea/ tick treatment on their cats, such as Frontline or Bob Martin and the like? I normally remove a handful of ticks each summer, so a few slip through after treatment. Plus the cat hates me for a day or two after applying the stuff.

My cat is mostly roaming around urban areas but occasionally walks through long grass near a railway line, I’m guessing this is when he picks up ticks.

What does everyone else do, do you apply spot on treatment or not bother?

We use Frontline which works well on our occasionally outdoor cat, but any flea treatment will only kill after a period of time (typically 24 hours), it won't stop new passengers jumping on every time the cat goes out.
