Something very, very odd is happening which my girlfriend and I can’t figure out. We have a dog and when he goes for a #2 in the back garden, we’ll bag it up and put it by the back door ready to take round to the dog poop bins the next morning.

These past 2 weeks, quite incredibly, the bags filled with dog poo is literally disappearing. As in, the next morning, they’re no where to be seen. Last night we did a test…. we bagged up some poop from the garden, kept it in the shed, then put it outside by the back door before we went to bed- we both made a mental note of exactly where we put it (wedged between 2 green recycling bins by the back door) and guess what.. this morning, it’s gone. We’re both so confused by it?!

Only thing I can think of is an animal during the night, maybe a fox? But why would an animal take a dog bag full of poop? It makes no sense.

Next step is to by a cheap outdoor wildlife camera type thing and see what’s going on because we’re both baffled by it. Does PH wisdom have an explanation for this or do we have some weird person on our estate who’s simply going around at night looking for poop bags?

I don't know the why's of it but I agree it will likely be a fox, somewhat strangely on a local Facebook community group for my area people were complaining about leaving shoes outside by their back doors and waking up to find one missing and another resident caught a fox on camera removing one shoe

Foxes
Cats
Hedgehogs

And your dog too will and does love lapping up cats poop. It’s why no one should ever let a dog lick them especially on the face and in either situation you need an instant wash else you have st on your skin.

Years ago i came out in the morning to go to work and one shoe was missing, i blamed the boys working for me as it was a typical prank, iirc i wasn't that happy when they wouldn't give back and totally blamed them, they were adamant it wasn't them.

A few weeks later one of the lads phoned me to say he had found my shoe, it was in a hedge in a neighbours garden hehe definitely a fox (or a very good wind up hehe )

This has been happening for 2 weeks now, so if a fox, their den must be filled with plastic dog bags full of poop.

Stay tuned as I’ll put a camera up to get to the bottom of this.

FIL had a dog who you had to watch very closely as a pup or he'd sometimes eat dog poo that hadn't been cleared up by scumbag owners.

When we did some digging, apparently it's a relatively common phenomenon which is attributed to a dog smelling the undigested goodness in the poo and thinking "food!"

So fox seems likely.

Why don’t you just put it in your dustbin?

Because dustbins get emptied once a fortnight and it’s not pleasant on anyone having a dustbin stinking of dog poo. I’d rather take it round each morning to the dedicated doggie poop bin on my morning walk smile

Unless you’re putting your head right in your dustbin, I’ve never found it a problem personally and mine gets emptied every 3 weeks. Each to their own I suppose.

Drama queen or what!

By the same reasoning you shouldn't let kids anywhere near year. Just think where they poke their fingers.

I'm amazed there isn't a lock down because of these huge risks.

Or flush it down the toilet, minus the bag obviously.

You shouldn't flush dog poo down the toilet. It's full of all sorts of bacteria and nasties that the water treatment plants can't properly eradicate / process.
