Out working in the garden this weekend & got bitten a couple of times on my legs by what looked like a Greenfly.

Roughly the same size as well, obvious pain when the blighter bit & left a hive.

Googled it but no clues as to what it was, covered myself in Jungle Formula & that did the trick.

Anyone have any ideas as to what it was?

From the size a flower bug or pirate bug sounds possible.

No it wasn’t one of those. Looked exactly like a Greenfly.

You're rapidly running out of options, 'cos there are only a very limited number of UK species that bite.

Sandfly? (obviously the abdomen is more green and less red when it's not bloated full of blood):

ETA: Just checking, but you don't live in Guildford, do you? wink

Could well be a Sandfly then. I think that’s the closest thing I’ve seen so let’s go with that. Cheers.

Edit - live in Reigate & yes my Lupins are covered in Greenflies!
