Short story… went with a mate to a farm to look at dogs and fell madly in love with one who is the runt of the little and who wasn’t being treated well by the ‘breeder’.

So he came home with me. My girl has gone mad but I’ve fallen in love. At first I thought he could be a guard dog. But now I’d rather anyone took the tools than hurt my boy.

But he is about half the weight he should be at 8 weeks for his alleged breed. He is meant to be German shepherd mixed with Rottweiler. But he seems too small. Don’t really care as I love him - abs the vet says he is healthy. But would be nice to know .

It's the character that counts, not the breed. I am sure he will reward you many times over.

(This is possibly the first 'heart' I have ever dished out on PH)

We adopted a greek rescue and were curious as to what mix of breeds she contained. there were several opinions of what mixes people could see in her. so we did a DNA test from Wisdom panel and it came back with quite a lot of detail which was all very interesting and the results made sense.

I think another poster (pmanson) has a pup of that mix, but I may be wrong. These are the photos I can find:

Yours looks lovely, and it's good that the vet has confirmed he is healthy.

Just shown this to my missus who is a dog groomer and qualified in animal management. I showed her the photo and asked what breed to which she replied german shepherd.good start. And then I said if it was mixed with anything what would it be to which she replied staffy. Be interesting to see how he/she turns out, i/we(family) had a cross colly german shepherd but everyone said he had rotty in him. The most amazing dog though bless him.

Cheers. Both to you and everyone else who has commented.

I can already tell he is going to be a great boy. He is a bit stubborn. But he is stupidly smart. Can already do basic commands etc. And he has a wonderful personality.

My biggest challenge is making sure my partner doesn’t treat him like a total baby. At first she was mad at me. Like so mad I was sleeping on the sofa. But now she is texting me asking how he is when she is out for half an hour.

Well in less than a month he has gone from that to this:

He still has the German shepherd look about him. But I think I can see the Rottweiler now. But I might be wrong.

He’s putting on weight and is healthy and happy. Every chance he gets he causes a mess and trouble but there is nothing I’d change about the silly sod.

Wow he's grown up fast. Good to see him gaining weight and growing at a prodigious rate now he's out of the litter environment

Enjoy. I'm desperately trying to convince the wife that Cooper needs a partner in crime around the house

He's looking lovely, growing up very healthily. I would say a cross between labrador and German shepherd given the rate of growth.

We used to have a German shepherd when we were young. My sister currently has a labrador cross. His growth rate is the same plus the length of legs/paws.
