As this is PH, I'll combine a car and dog pic in one smile

18 months old and we've a few weekends coming up when she'll need to head to the Kennels for the first time. Lovely natured, well behaved, great with other dogs and if you like her, she'll adore you - type of dog. Also happy to be left on her own for a good few hours.

Pre-dog, I often viewed Kennels as Dog Prison (which I know not to be the case) but getting a little anxious at how she'll cope. I work at home, OH and son are often here so she's used to having two or three of us always around. Whenever I go away for business or my wife's away overnight for a day or so, she doesn't get sad as such - just pissed off (if such a thing is possible with dogs).

We're planning on taking her to spend a couple of hours there for a day soon to see how she gets on. First proper stay will just be an overnighter.

The people who run the Kennels are mates and we know it's a good facility. Other's we know who have used them say the biggest problem they have is dragging their mutts away from the place!

Would be grateful for any other tips on how to blend in the notion of kennel stays for dogs.

Spending a couple of hours there so that she knows that you're coming back for her is probably a good move, otherwise you're over thinking it. Just drop her off when needed and pick her up when you're back.

You can download an app called 'Rover' (I think) where dog owners offer boarding in their house, kind of like doggy AirBnB.
Normally for £20 per night or something similar. There's likely to be someone near you.

I would get a pet sitter instead.
