Dog has had an allergic reaction
Discussion
Woken up at 2am by one of the dogs whining. Went downstairs and was shocked to see him looking like this. Looks like he's had a reaction to something during our long walk yesterday.
Rang the out of hours vets who said to give him piriton or we could take him down to them and they could give him some via an injection. However it would be £250 to see him and £300 for the injection! £5 later at the local fuel station and he's just had 2 tablets.
Not sure what he's picked up but the other dog appears fine / layed there snoring her head off!

Any idea if he may have come into contact with any plants that may be irritants, maybe even hogweed? Worth looking a few possible plants up as some, like giant hogweed can be nasty. I'm unsure what the reaction in dogs is like but its not pleasant in humans. Other than plants, could gave have disturbed a bee or wasp nest and got stung? Oak processionary moths are another insect irritant, but again, not sure how it presents with dogs.
Thanks, he's a lot better now. Been to the vets and they've said to keep him dosed on piriton.
They were spraying the winter wheat yesterday so I think it may have been that? Doesn't explain why the other dog is fine though.
It took about 12 hours to come up so don't think it was wasps?
