My Labrador Alfie has recently been diagnosed with having a B12 vitamin deficiency.

This has came about after he’s had a serious and rapid decline in his mobility over the space of 6 weeks.
He’s went from being able to do 2.5-3 mile walks once a day to barely being able to get to the end of the street.

He’s had minor and major blood samples taken and tested.
An ultrasound and urine samples taken.

Vet found he was passing protein in his urine and had a urine infection so he’s had an 11 day course of antibiotics to help clear that up.

The ultrasound didn’t find anything wrong and the bloods all came back fine bar the B12 issue.

He’s lost 3 kg in weight since his checkup and booster at the end of February to earlier this month.

Now, he was diagnosed with osteoarthritis 4 years ago which we have been managing with joint care tablets.
2 years ago he got placed on loxicom and has been on a daily dose of it.

After his vet appointment and a further emergency vet appointment he’s been changed to Librela for 4 weekly injections to help along with paracetamol morning and evening. He’s on B12 capsules twice a day as due to covid we can’t get a B12 injection due to supply issues.

How quickly he’s went downhill has taken me by surprise and has really upset me as he’s always been a healthy happy dog and, while still happy, is struggling with his legs and his mobility.

He’s not quite able to put his front left paw flat and he has a very stiff back right leg.

He’s due back on the 5th for a check up, more bloods and another Librela injection and likely more B12 stuff.

Has anyone else had to face this with their dog?
How did it go and did they improve or was it a slow decline?
