First time out out this morning.

Rationale it's a Sunday am, quiet etc.

She's literally gone out, sniffed around then legged it.

Hope she will be back. I'm trying to remain calm infront of the family but I'm anxious frown

She's back! My son spotted her in a back garden and went and got her. I've told him next time she wants to go out to let her and leave her be.

Always make sure that you let them out only when they are hungry at first. Glad that they are back.

Read the title too quickly, thought you had an 8 legged cat. Disappointed.

One of ours went awol for about 5 hours first time he went over the wall. Think he may have got lost he’s never stayed out for longer than an hour since.

The first time we put flea treatment on our youngest cat, about a week after we had rescued her, she did a runner out of the back door, across the garden, over the fence, and came back about 4 hours later as if nothing had happened.

We thought then we might have lost her.

She still has a habit of disappearing for hours in the summer, she finds somewhere to sleep in the shade and comes home when she is hungry.

Been with us for 10 plus years now so she must be content with us.

This is what I've said to my 11yr old. If she isnt happy she'll go elsewhere.

Good idea on letting out before feeding time - they know where dinner is!

One of mine goes out for over 23 hours a day during the summer, and I knew someone whose cat went out for months ata time. That would worry me the first couple of times!

For the last 5 kittens, I built a catio with a cat flap to the house in order for them to get used to how a cat flap works. After a couple of months, they were allowed out properly.

Previously, it was tempting them with treats each side.

Let the cat out when it’s hungry. Also fill a little Tupperware box with dried food and give it a shake every time it’s feeding time. The cat will very quickly learn that the shaking noise equates to food. It’ll hear it for miles and leg it home immediately.

hehe I remember how the sound of a tin being opened would cause my cat to materialise regardless of what was in it or who it was for!

One of ours went AWOL for 26 days.

Came back extremely weak and skinny......we think he may have been locked in somewhere as it was over the Xmas period.

Yes we spoiled him rotton and took him in for a check up....he soon put his weight back on and doesn't seem to have suffered any long term effects.

He looks lovely - I guess he will be a bit more carful on future excursions.
