We have a neighbour who has 2 dogs that bark at all hours. They don't give a damn about anyone else and a number of people have complained about them. One neighbour has called the Council who are sending a letter out and providing a diary to record the disturbances.

How do these things go/pan out in your experience?

Lol

Well our neighbours called the council who sent them a letter about the noise. Apparently they were not happy (good).

The next step is to get the council to install recording gear but they are so stacked with complaints about dogs that they don't any availability for ages!

If you don't give a d@mn about your neighbours, as they seemingly don't for you, you could always sue them for the nuisance they cause you with the noise, loss of enjoyment of your property etc.

We had a Anti barking dog device.
I think it emitted a high frequency noise that dogs don't like.
My neighbours dog very quickly learned to SHUT UP.

I did have a complaint myself many years ago about our two dogs.
I didn't feel it was a fair complaint as we always told them to be quiet if they started.

Later, the person who complained actually came round to complain that my dogs didn't bark the previous night when they were burgled !!!
He told me he had, had to send his wife down to chase them off. laugh

Have you tried talking to them? The reason I ask is because depending on how they were approached by your other neighbours would depend on what reaction you'd get. If they've knocked on the door and unleashed a full scale attack on their door step, then rightly or wrongly, the barriers will go up and they won't want to listen or be particularly helpful.

In a previous property, I had new neighbours move in and within the first week they'd complained about the dog . I'd gone out one evening for a couple of hours and the dog 'allegedly' barked the whole time. They'd written a letter explaining the problem, how it affected them and that they'd be very happy to help be part of any solution. I went nuclear, how dare they complain in their first week of living there and poke a well written, constructive letter through the letterbox AND offer to help, meet the dog etc, how very dare they!! In the morning, I re-read the letter and felt bad for being annoyed by it, it was very unreasonable of me. I popped round and met the new neighbours. They were lovely, very understanding and on this occasion, I didn't know there was an issue. The end result was meeting some very good people, becoming great friends and when required, we now had two households with keys to each others homes to let dogs out if anyone got delayed returning home etc. Perfect solution and it can end well.

As this is Pistonheads, he had a C63 and various other weapons and she was really fit.

.
I haven't but various people have gone to their home and asked them to sort it out nicely. The wife there got very stressed and slammed the door one time and the husband really didn't care and said the neighbour was clearly intolerant.

No-one wants a battle but they are just the kind of people who don't really care if their dogs annoy anyone else. Sort of like those crap parents who can't control their kids. The next door neighbour said their dogs, in the past, have got out and shat on their lawn and the owners just shrug.

Anyway, so far the dogs have been very quiet.....
