We have 2 male cats in the house, both in/outdoors cats but I would best describe them as frenemies.
They don't fight as such, but the little one ~ now nearly 2, is more dominant over the 6 yr old.

They do the usual cat thing of trying to avoid each other but there can be times when the little one is up for more intense play than the older one, resulting in some hissing but seldom fur. Later that day, they will be found curled up on a bed together.

I am thinking I need to give them more zones or routes though the house whereby they can choose to avoid each other easier.
Something like a set of cat shelves in a stair configuration, or hammocks or high positioned walkways etc..

A concern is that I will have to mechanically fix these to the walls, it would be a difficult enough sale to SWMBO before I explain why I am drilling holes in walls. Is there a safe high bond non permanent solution for this?

Any ideas or inspiration welcome.

We found that a cat door climber did the trick. Slides on the top & bottom of the door and gives some elevation for one of ours to escape the other. No permanent installation, so may be something you want to try? Only downside is that it was a little loose, so could make a clattering noise as they mount / dismount.
Something like this-

Or https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B07T3JS1V8 ? Loads to choose from, and no need to fix to a wall.

Thanks for the suggestions, the door mounted one might be useful.

We had a huge cat tree before, but they fought over it like Mt Iwo Jima. The stairs seems to be the bottleneck where most of the action goes down. I have been watching lots of YT vids of some great setups but again, everything needs properly anchored to the wall. The search continues.

I reckon you could get something like this and rather than screw direct into the ceiling, screw into a larger flat piece of wood (or whatever) top and bottom to spread the load.

I can only imagine it's expensive though, once you start adding the bits.

We're on the right track with this, but something closer to B&M budget level.
I stopped at £1200 when building what I thought was 'enough' lol.

Thought as much, I'm fully onboard with that. How much is scaffolding, a tub of paint and sisal rope on ebay? smile

I hear ya...

Coming to a council thread near you soon.... lol

You could actually knock up something mega on a budget but my biggest issue is drilling 20 holes in the walls of a rented house.
