Pippin is starting to feel the cold a bit (springer x lab with v short coat) Any brand recommendations for a decent dog coat? Local pet store didn't have much of a selection & would prefer one with clips over velcro as she hates the noise of velcro.

TIA

I am not being a moron and trying to wind you up but does the dog really need a coat?

What about an Equafleece?

https://www.equafleece.co.uk/products/dogs/polo-ne...

I haven't bought one of their coats, so can't comment on them specifically, but I've bought Dog Jumpers and Dog Tankies from them in the past and have been very happy with them. Great customer service as well.

We have one of these on order as everyone we spoke to said we’d end up getting one even if we bought something else first so made sense to just skip the others

Not arrived yet (there is a waiting list) but service so far has been good

If you are near Keswick, check out the petshop just of the main Street
Just bought a coat for one of our collies as he feels the cold on the fells.
It's a raincoat, more to stop.the wind than keep him dry. Brand is non-stop dogwear.

she is getting the shivers if she stops running when out walking in the crappy weather, she is very slight and short haired, nothing like a lab or springer which is her line.

One of mine doesn't bother, the other with thin fur has a chavvy little puffer jacket with zip up back.

I'll get a photo up. biggrin

Equafleese seem to have plenty of choice just nothing in Pippins size (decent measuring info on there though) Tempted to order a couple and find something cheap in the mean time.

I would suggest contacting them - they will help if they can.

Definitely contact them. We measured and it said nothing would fit. Called them and got advice. They make to order and are allowing for some growth for us based on dogs age and measurements

Another vote for equafleece . Gloria is long and low but managed to get one that fitted her . As others have said the customer service is brilliant. She utterly hates the blue one with the legs and not overly happy in the pink one either but they do keep her body dry a slightly less boggin

Awww love Gloria! We have 3 equafleeces for each of my 4 dogs - they are brilliant. They do the Dachshund tankie, is that what she has?

Brilliant company

Some of our fleeces are 10 years old and still going strong

Hurtta do brilliant waterproof coats for active dogs - I use them for my two bigger boys.

Anyone who scoffs at dogs in coats perhaps hasn't considered older dogs or breed specific issues like coat or physical traits. EG Greyhounds need them in winter. Elderly dogs or dogs with arthritis can really benefit from a fleece. smile

These Hurtta coats looks great I hadn’t heard of that brand before . The website has a drop down box where you pick your breed and they recommend a size which is great . Yes it’s a dachie 22 slim I think. Gloria seems to have grown longer since I got it last year as her bums a bit exposed so I’ll Need to be ordering a new one . (Any excuse)

Have bought lots of Bully Billows stuff before - they’ve just started doing fleeces - not bought them for my dogs yet but will do. All of their stuff is very good quality.

Sale on too.

Just looked at them, lacking in photos of the fleece fit, are they only for chunky dogs? a bit too ample around the chest/neck versus the length for Pippin

If you follow the page linked to the bottom, there are a load of customer reviews with photos - there are a couple of small dogs on there wearing them. See how your measurements compare to their size chart.

We have 2 equafleeces. Expensive, but well worth it. I actually need to order some more as ours play fight and im starting to see holes in the fleece frown

Ours dont use them to keep warm, just stops the dogs getting covered in mud and using the carpet to get themselves clean.

Highly recommended. Keeps him clean which is the biggest reason for us. On a long very muddy walk last weekend he was still mucky, but at least it was more limited and looking at the state of the Equafleece he'd have been clogged up with mud !
