This bugger flew into the house yesterday, when I entered the house.
Thankfully the hall light was already on and I saw it dance against the wall.

A quick swipe and I knocked it out, so I could pick it up and take a picture.

What is this?

Its name escapes me, but I did read that it is exceedingly rare and there is (was) believed to be only one breeding pair left.

Doesn’t look like it’d feed many. The hunt might have been a waste of time.

Going by the stripes, it looks a bit like this Asian Tiger Mosquito - but the continent is wrong.

It's the covid virus.

If you could post some better pics, I should be able to identify the variant for you.
