Hi all
After losing our cat last year and then a rescue cat too, we needed a break for a bit.
Our little lad has asked about getting a dog but due to getting an extension we said we'd have to wait until after. Then we thought actually, let's surprise him as he's really patient and works hard at school etc
We picked up our Cocker Spaniel called Chilli today
Excuse the chins!!

Dead ringer for that lovely little mite here, ours looked like butter wouldn't melt too and still does now aged 8.
However are you for some fun times, probably the nearest dog there is to a cat in behaviour, loving and always hungry but once they get a sniff of something to chase, well see you when we see you, oh and 3 days ago she managed to roll in some fox poo unbeknown to the good wifey who managed to get it all over her hands when taking the collar and lead off putting the dogs in the boot...but you know what? wouldn't change her for the world and we kept one of the litter she had 5 years ago.
Enjoy your new life, which is going to be completely different to what went before, but in a nice way, your boy is a lucky young chap.

Excellent choice but then again I’m biased.
We’ve had our boy three and half years now.
They can be quite hard work for the first few months and the “cockerdile” stage is a bit testing but stick with it and you’ll end up with cracking little mate who’ll pay back the initial work you do in spades.
Here’s our fella:

Thanks again all.
3 days in and I love her more and more. Seems to have settled in well.
Not sure of type. Show dog rather than working I guess. Will post a few more snaps over the next few days.
There’s a big difference!3 days in and I love her more and more. Seems to have settled in well.

Rarely see show cockers these days, working cockers & sprockers are very popular at the moment.
Congrats, as a long time spaniel owner you’re gonna have a lot of fun

Just checked the ad and she's a show type. Just had lovely cuddles this morning.
Show have the slightly more domed head and longer ears and are a little bit smaller - and tend to be slightly less hyperThis is my mate Cooper - he's 3 1/2 now. Wouldn't change him for the world. Agree with the above, he's absolutely mental but personality and affection wise he's the best. He was "helping" with some garden renovations here!
As someone with experience of show cockers, working cockers and sprockers I would say they are almost like different breeds than variations of the same
In my experienced all 3 are fun, loveable and good natured.
However a show cocker is relaxed, happy with short walks, enjoyed a cuddle / sitting on or next to you and thrives on human interaction. A working cocker is way more energetic, needs more exercise, usually sits near rather than on you and is way more driven my toys, balls etc than a show but alot easier / more eager to learn tricks than a show
A sprocker is like a working cocker turned up to 11 with the ability to jump very high
All are great but defo need to find the right one for your lifestyle.
Yours defo looks like a show to me OP, same colouring (Orange roan) as my eldest, awesome dogs

Yes, I was thinking she probably was. The best type in my view, but I'm biased There do seem to be more working cockers around now, although the rescue we got Rosie from has a number of show types in at the moment, including several that look a lot like her. I suspect they all come from the same puppy farm
