We have 2 cats, brother and sister and both around a year and half old. They've been going outside since 6mths+, let out in the morning and called/return by sundown on most occasions. There have been times for both of them that they have stayed out all night, although I could count on one hand the amount of times that has happened.

Now the girl cat has not returned home since being let out Sunday morning. She has been spayed and is chipped and most of the time stays in/around our garden. Having called her lots shaking her Dreamies, and walking/calling her around the local area there is no sign of her. Does anybody have any other suggestions on how best to find her?

She has only even been out overnight once and there are spots around the house for them to hide and be safe but having checked them all I'm at a loss where she could have gone.

The guy this morning did sniff around the patch where he has been going to the toilet and wandered to the bottom of the garden and through the bushes, but I couldn't follow him being in flip flops and he sometimes goes that way himself. Is it likely he knows where she might have gone & is it worth following him tomorrow morning?

Might be worth asking around the neighbours. We've got a few old sheds and sometimes a cat manages to get in but then can't get out.

Exactly this. There are normally a couple a week posted on our local page. Usually found pretty quickly too.

Don't have facebook. I have asked some of the neighbours but neither have seen anything. There is a house 2 doors down which are going through a remodel so will ask them if I can have a look around. Will spread the search a little further and see if anybody has seen her around.

I've read that sometimes a new addition to the family can leave the cat feeling unloved and thus disappearing?

Go old school and put notices on lampposts ? Garages are definitely worth checking. I managed to lock my neighbours cat in our garage a while ago.

Poster made and printing them now to put up around the place. I know I haven't been in our garage since before that but will check anyway. I will possibly go to the house which is behind ours and see if they have seen anything recently.

We have had the guy locked in neighbours garage before but when shouting we could hear him, see his paw under the door and the girl actually sat in front of the door and wouldn't move. Which is what got me wondering if he knows where she might be?

I guess I will never know the reason why she has disappeared? Some say weather changes, some say just because.

OP, have you had a few sunny days where people open their sheds and get the lawnmower's out? In years gone by I've lost cats when that's happened and they get locked in a shed. They come home starving.

Hope yours is home soon.

Sunday was warm but last 2 days had been mid teens, not really grass cutting weather.

Started to put the posters up and going to have another call/look around when it's darker and quieter.

Last time she stayed out overnight she came back starving and slept the whole day.

Hate to think if something has happened as she either isn't far and can't hear her or she can't make it back. The not knowing is the worst bit.

Times like this I wish I bought his collars although the ones we've bought haven't last that long as it is

Posters up and neighbours spoken too. I went down to the end one side and about 5 in down the other.

I went and spoke to the people who's garden partly backs onto ours and put a poster by the school so see if she turns up.

He's turned up okay this evening so going to follow him tomorrow and see roughly where he goes. If it's far into the school grounds will go round and ask for supervised look around the edges

Other than that it's just sit and hope she either comes back or at least she's safe wherever she is

Have you phoned local vets?

I know you said both cats are chipped, but the information on the chip is only as good as the person who inputted that data. Maybe there could be an incorrect digit on your phone number on the chip?

There might be a local WhatsApp group as well?

Will phone vets tomorrow. We know the chip in the guy works as he was previously found and the vets got in touch. I'm sure they know us so if she did turn up they would be in touch but won't hurt to double check.

Will ask the neighbours if there is a WhatsApp group for the village

Put food out overnight, combination of wet, dry & treats, to see if that can entice her to come back.

The guy is only sleeping on his half of the bed. Not quite sure how he'll take it if she doesn't come back. They've been together since the start and still play fight and sleep together.

I've logged with the vets and chip company to say she is missing so here's to hoping that somebody hands her in.

Posters are helping although the few sitings haven't been her but another similar cat. Will keep looking and going to put more posters up around the place, seems she could be in the estate behind ours but needle in a haystack is feeling right about now.

The food outside didn't help, it did attract the lighter version of her and the guy also ate most of it too but that's just like him!

He did stick to sleeping in his side of the bed so guessing he knows something's up but not that she hasn't come back

Hopefully she will turn up soon. A few on our local Facebook group have just wandered back in days later without a care in the world.

There are always a lot of missing cats round here - there's one at the moment I've seen on our local Facebook groups that's not been seen for more than 4 weeks (feel very sorry for the owners).

Houses that are being remodelled is a good shout. I'm sure there was a cat locally that was eventually found, after being trapped for a few days under someone's new decking, or maybe floorboards.

Also, some people trap cats on purpose. Our cat used to be very adventurous - but always came home 3 or 4 times a day without fail for food. When he once went missing for 24 hours, we knew something was wrong. Eventually someone returned him in a cage - they'd been trying to trap a feral cat that had been attacking birds in their garden, or some such explanation - but I thought it was quite wrong at the time (but it seems it does happen, and perhaps people aren't always quick to check their traps).

Even if you don't have a Facebook account yourself, I would definitely find someone to go and plaster Facebook with the details and pictures. In our area, we have 3 or 4 different "local community" groups - but also several "Pets lost in ..." groups - many of the members go above and beyond to help find lost animals (they'll go out and search the streets or fields/parks). Facebook was how we got our cat back, after he'd been trapped.

My cat is a real wanderer and often goes on cross town missions, I echo the comments above about Facebook, sign up and join the local groups for missing cats. You don’t have to use it for anything else! I have managed to track mine down a few times thanks to Facebook, I’m now often tagged in posts by the local crazy cat ladies whenever a black cat is found wandering.

Thankfully in my 14 years of having my two (brother and sister) the longest either of them (usually her) has been 'missing' has been a few hours, usually when we've left them alone for 24 hours and we come home and she's nowhere to be seen.

Will check this thread hoping for good news for you. Most people are usually very keen to help so you should at least get a few people getting in touch if they do see anything.
