Why don't you get in touch with Gretchen for kittens? The ones she rescues clearly need good homes. She also has excellent advice for integration, but I think you are already on the right lines.
We introduced 2 siblings to an existing cat. They were all fine. If you have 2 kittens they are more likely to play with eachother rather than annoy the existing cat too. Plus initial isolating is better with 2.

Our first cat was female & hated being picked up.
Our current cats are a male & female litter siblings from Cats Protection.
Both neutered (as was the first).
Both handled extensively as kittens.
Female doesn't like being picked up.
Male loves it.
Female quite happy to sleep all night & get up when we do.
Male is an avid hunter, wide awake at first light mithering to be let out.
No cat flap as he used to bring little friends home and let them go on the bedroom floor then they both sat back and watched the proceedings.
