I've heard mention of stuff you can add to the dogs' water bowl to stop their wee scorching the grass. Does this work? If so what's best?

We tried it with no success at all. The only thing that's worked is keeping them off the lawn as much as possible, and if we do catch them weeing on it dousing it with water immediately.

Anything you can feed your dog which has enough of an effect on the dog's body to have a major influence on the chemical composition of its urine is likely to be harmful to the dog.

The advertising blurb says not, but that has been a concern.

These days anything which harms pets is very swiftly outed on social media, though.

We used Dog Rocks. Seemed to work.

Dog rocks do indeed work.

Not for that long tho.

And they are expensive.

And one dog didn't drink with them in the water which was not ideal.

Urine is a natural organic fertiliser rich in nitrogen.

It's too concentrated so burns the grass, dilute with watering can and or don't use the same spot each time.

Anything that stops the nitrogen etc can't be good for doggo.

I just keep an eye on them when they go in the garden and chuck a load of water over it. Tends to do the trick, but my girlfriend forgets so we get patches of dead grass.
