Ignore the sparrow bit, it is a baby Goldfinch.
This little chap/chapess has just appeared by our back door, it can fly 2’ or so, does not appear injured.
I can not find a nest, there are just to many places it could be.
We have bucket loads of cats, magpies, gulls round here.
I don’t want it to die of hunger or thirst… so what do I do ?

Put him under some cover off the ground. In a hedge perhaps? With luck predators won't find him but his parents will.
