What's the best way to keep magpies out the garden, other than a belt-fed weapon? Two reasons, one I WFH permanently now and my god they are fking irritatingly noisy. But the main reason is we have a few guinea pigs and rabbits, some ours, some we foster for the RSPCA.

I keep seeing them on top of the run pecking and just being gits. It's all secure but I'm worried that one day they may find a gap. Couple of our bunnies have bad attitude so it won't go well for the bird if they get in there. But we have a dwarf rabbit at the min and it's about the same size as the birds.

Is an air rifle an option?

Sounds harsh I know but they really aren't nice birds to have around. I've got a few moved in to my neighbourhood and they've chased everything else away. I'm to close to neighbours to start waving a gun around though.

I think my parents still have mine from my childhood. Unfortunately we have houses and gardens all around and I think that would be a bit risky, and mine was a low powered .177 so probably wouldn't be much cop

Maybe a hawk cutout? I'm not sure a covid would fall for one of those though but hawks do take covids.

Well if the powers that be can provide a fking search that works on mobile then maybe this enormous energy-sapping tax on your daily life can be avoided.

I know the sound they make when I'm in a Teams call with the financial auditors, and it's similar to. SQUAKKKETYKKCHHHEEEEEEAAAACAHEEEETEYYYAAACCCECCCSCSCCAAAAAASCHHHAAAAAASRKKKKYKKKEE

You could try old CD's on string or fishing wire - that can be effective.

I know. But that takes the fun away from pissing the purists off by starting a new thread

It isn't purism. It's the need to read something new and interesting other than being bored to tears by reading the same old crap day in, day out which is easily solved by using the search.

Right you are. Well there is plenty of new, esoteric, intellectual threads to avail yourself of for your own gratification. So maybe fk off, and read them, than butt into other threads and complain that the thread your are in is boring.

Well I would rather entertain than bore someone to death.
One is very easy though.

Never ever seen a magpie in my garden, many other crows but no magpies. 40 miles up the road in Edinburgh , they’re everywhere.
