Man wheels dying dog to top of mountain
Discussion
Article this morning in The Times about a guy who wheeled his best mate Monty the labradoodle (with Monty's favourite stuffed toy next to him the whole way), to the top of Pen Y Fan in a wheelbarrow so the two could enjoy one last trip together before Monty passed away from leukaemia
Got to me, that did. Cried a bit, I have to admit
Lovely to hear that Monty had a wonderful few last days.

Here's a video.
It looks to me as though the dog wasn't entirely delighted by it all, particularly when his forward motion stopped abruptly as his clumsy master barged into rocks.. A crafty sniff of the sherpa's crutch towards the end was apparently his only escape from the ignimony.

Sorry. If you care about the animal at all you would put it's needs before you own sentimentality.
This is for his benefit not the dogs. I would imagine it's quite uncomfortable being on your last legs and some idiot decides to drag you up a mountain in a wheel barrow because it is poignant. Dog would probably have preferred a bone by the fire.

I can feel for him. Two years ago, I had to take my best mate into the Vet . Thursday ,she had problems walking. Saturday, she collapsed, fell in her bed and messed on the bed/carpet. I heard her pain from upstairs. She looked at me and said "dad ,it's over, help me ". Vet told me it was spinal. possibly years of surgery( and Shona had problems with Anaesthetics). One more could kill her. it's all about the quality of life you want for your pet. I feel I did the best for my little lass.
But I wanted another. Possibly my little lass spoke out from above. I'd like to think so, but two years ago we heard of a Westie looking for a home. It wanted a home ( possibly with kids), but knowing the breed. I know the breed. Tough. None at the kennels, but walking past the enclosures, we were "summoned" by a bark from within a cage. I asked to meet her , wondering "why" this dog had wanted to meet us. She was a mixed breed, possibly JRX and something else. Yep- I've now realised that the something else is either Westie or Wheaten Cairn. But both are really Cairns.
But NEVER reject a dog contact. Two yeas ago I had to let a good mate tell me it was time to go. Months later, a dog heard me and wanted my attention. She's here. loving life on my sofa. Free from a life in a cage at RSPCA.
