Strange one so i’ll try to explain as best as I can.

Sunday walked the dog around the park, nothing strenuous just on leash walking, same again sunday afternoon.

Woke up on Monday and my dog couldn’t use his rear right leg. No weight at all. Checked for foreign bodies etc nothing there so made a vet appt.

Visited the vets that evening and she said she couldn’t examine him as he was very vocal and moved around a lot. I’m not a vet but I’ve had a good prod and poke, checked movement and didn’t get any adverse reaction. He is very shouty when he wants to be i.e in the groomers etc. just a very excitable dog.

Vet suggested that he is sedated tomorrow and x rayed which is fine if required and gave him some anti inflammatory to get him through.

Today he is much better, jumping up and down (even though he is supposed to be resting), very difficult to contain an 11 month old cockapoo!

The vet is still adamant that he needs to be sedated and x rayed, i’ve asked for a second opinion in the morning before this happens because we obviously do not want any long term damage, he is insured so this isn’t a cost issue. When I called the vets the nurse thought it was strange that he wasn’t given a week of anti inflammatorys before the suggestion of xray.

Thoughts on what to do? Different vet? Ask to give it until friday? Let them sedate him?

If dog is back to normal, then don't get sedation/xray, if dog is either not happy or gets worse then pursue xray. Simple.

I’m assuming you have some credentials judging by your username hehe

Thanks for your opinion. Just concious the prescription is just masking the pain. May give it a few more days. Will get him seen in the AM still.
