As above, some little funckers are eating my birch tree, some parts are now bare and they seem well onto the next branch.

Anyone know what disgusting parasite they are and what chemicals will annihilate them?

I dont know, would you be concerned if they were eating your hair?! It’s a fairly young tree so how long before it’s bald?!

They look like they could be sawfly larvae. If so, from what I've seen of them in my own garden they're voracious and strip the plant they're on.

I think you are right thank you, think I need to cut my losses and remove any leaves they are on ASAP.

I was hoping for some sort of exotic butterfly that I could tolerate a few lost leaves over. But these look like it could end in a lot of damage

They'll be ready to pupate soon. After that a bird or bat will dine on them.
