Does anyone know of a way to scare Pidgeon`s from my garden, apart from a shot gun. I have erected a number of bird feeders that attract ( or did? ) a lovely selection of small birds. The problem is these big fat flying rats always find a way of scoffing all the food. On one occasion two of them landed and snapped the feeder. These horrible birds are scaring the finches, tits, robins and others away.
Is there any anti Pidgeon trick?

Perhaps those feeders that small birds can get into by slipping past the wire. Also, stop the pidgeons from perching.

They're just birds, like all the other birds you seem to like. Leave some food out for them separately - peanuts on the floor. Make sure you use bird feeders they can't use. Use seed they don't like - niger for example. It's not difficult really. Alternatively, shoot the finches and tits and leave the pigeons to it.

This we get everything in our garden from the normal stuff to them & some crows a magpie aswell

Everyone just seems to get along, the small birds use the feeders & stuff gets dropped on the floor for the bigger guys & there's a bird table the magpie likes

How about one of these:

https://smile.amazon.co.uk/Garden-Repellent-Repell...

I would think the smaller birds will ignore it.

Haha!

Joke isn’t it. Stop the nasty big birds, jeeez.

Nature comes in all shapes & sizes. There not manky town pigeons that live under a railway bridge and have a foot missing, they’re nice looking examples.

They look even better served with a salad.

I had pigeon ragu last night but my freezer is running low on game at the moment due to the shooting restrictions at the beginning of this year. (Unfortunately, I can only shoot pigeon between the end of the pheasant season and the end of March).

The little b***rds sit on the lines over my cars and poo on them..... Yesterday however a local hawk helped reduce the population by one right outside of my lounge window..... Felt sorry for the pigeon really but the hawk had a good meal.....

We have a problem with them. Lots of them! All over the lawn. Now I’m not usually against nature etc. But there are too many here. And the amount of poo is frankly infuriating. I cannot possibly walk around the garden without walking in it. Then it comes in the house. It’s on the back patio, the pathway to the front door, on the cars, like all over the cars! On the garden table and chairs, the benches we would like to sit on maybe. the shed roof is a mess.

It’s revolting! I get what some of you are saying, as in. They aren’t terrible to look at. And sometimes quite nice to see (wood pigeons) but if you actually have to live with the mess. I think you may change your mind.

I really don’t know how to deal with ours anymore. And they do get me down…

There appears to be a lot of grain in your bird feed, which in my limited experience, is.often ignored by the smallerb irds and taken by the pigeons.

Switch to a higher quality or single-seed food (sunflower hearts, Niger etc).

P.S. They are wood pigeons, totally different character to feral pigeons - if they can walk somewhere rather than fly they will! There's no way they will hurt or even scare the smaller birds - usually the smaller birds will happily eat with them. As a bonus they will square up to and challenge magpies and make it safer for the smaller ones.
