Hello,

Our 8 month old Labrador pup, Archie, has recently developed a fear of our hallway. His crate is in the hallway, and he gets fed next to it twice a day. Whenever he has to traverse the hallway between the living room and his crate/food, he pauses and waits as if scared to go through. Once he gets up the courage, he'll sprint through the door and across the hallway (sliding on the laminate as he goes).

He is fine if we put him on his lead (as if to take him a walk). There aren't any new furniture or things in the hallway that could upset him, and we just had the place exorcised.

It seems odd, as he was fine until about a week ago, and we can't figure out what might be causing this and we aren't sure how to fix it! Any seen this before, or got any suggestions?

Warranty claim!

Labs are funny things - they can be a bit ocd. Ours would occasionally become scared of his food bowl. The other his harness.

They have a very good spook memory - every pin intended. It could be anulything. Keep up the posiruve reward (food) and just see if he grows out of it.

Is it hard floor by any chance? He could have slipped - that can be enough. Our other lab used to walk a small section of our tiled floor like a drunkard trying not to fall over. He'd slipped over rushing for food years previously.

Good shout - it is a hard floor. I'll move the rug a bit and see if that makes a difference. Lots of treats, rewards and snuggles are standard in this house so we'll try that as well! Thanks

Are there any electronics behind walls or under flooring that could have spooked the pup? A high-pitch whine of an electric motor or some kind of receiver/transmitter could do it. Our Lab pup took fright from the motor in a radio controlled car my son was playing with. Wouldn’t go back into the room for days, even when offered food - something unheard of with a Lab.

FFS. The dog is probably trying to get away from it's crazy owner
