Cat owners - any idea whats going on here?!

This appeared on Thursday, just looked like a dirty face... but its now progressed to as below. (Scabs around whisker bases, some swelling)

He's not too fussed by it, he cleans the wound regularly. He is his normal self.

Got a vets appointment tomorrow but may be good to get a head start on anything we can do to help it.

You'd do no harm dabbing it with warm salty water a few times a day. No idea what it is though.

Our kitten has something similar, and the vet suggested it was just a slight reaction to something she'd been sticking her nose in. I think she said it was basically a cat acne.

Our kittens didn't reach the point of scabbing and soon disappeared, but the vet did suggest warm salt water if required.

The vets looked at it, think its just a wound (this one seems to come back with war wounds pretty regularly) and it will heal ok without intervention
