Why ?
Just why ? I was on a walk yesterday and in a stretch of approximately 500 yards there were dozens of bags of the stuff discarded.
This was in a wooded section, it would be better if people just let their dogs crap at the side, at least then then rain would decompose it a lot faster than bagging it and tossing it to the side of the path.
There must be dog owners who are going to read this and maybe do so themselves, can you give your reason for it ?

Dog owners who do this will tell you that they hang it there to then pick it up on the way back, so as not to have to carry it around on their dog walk, they are talking bks.

I bag it and carry it with me until I either come across a bin or end up back home.

This does my nut in too.

I do this sometimes to save carrying bags for miles but will hide the bag properly. I am pretty diligent but to be honest forget maybe 10% of the time. Out of sight out of mind.

Whilst this does my nut in too, and is totally wrong, its no worse than the millions of us that think its ok to open our car doors and drop the KFC rubbish, empty the cigarette tray, spit out their gum etc. etc..
It astounds me that in 2021, with all the access we have to education, news, and are regularly force fed our negative effect on the environment, that large parts of society (I'd guess 50%) still can't behave properly.
We really are our own worst enemy.
The perpetrators are scum bags has far as I'm concerned.mad
It'll never change unfortunately.rolleyes

I'd like to hang you all from the trees right next to your bags of dogst!

How on earth can you possibly imagine that your actions could in any way be considered acceptable behaviour?

That 10% will not be out of sight to others. If you know you don’t pick up what you leave then please stop doing it.

Even leaving the bags there for a short duration is unpleasant for others.

Absolutely, they are just fking peasants, thick, grasping, self absorbed and usually if challenged, first line of defense is to threaten violence.

Should be a mandatory week, unpaid, of litter picking if caught.

I used to get angry but when walking the dog I will actually pick stuff up on my route.

Always the same stuff, bloody Red Bull, Lucozade, Fag packets, Costa Cups (Rarely Starbucks or Caffe Nero strangely) and most fast food places, all scratters favorites for instant gratification.

Our dogs turds, get picked up and a bin found, if its "in the rough" or can go under a hedgerow (not someone's hedge) then I do that sometimes, my reckoning its biodegradable and its better there rather than put in a bag and into landfill. I don't think anyone should ever have to see it or get it on them because I choose to own a dog and it is entirely my responsibility.

Roadside path poo - Bag & bin at the earliest opportunity. Woodland path poo - Stick & flick it off to the side to decompose. No need to hang a poo pinata from a branch ever!

Does my nut in. Had some old boy giving me grief for riding my cross bike through the woods. He and his dog were blissfully unaware of the bag of dog shyte hanging from the tree behind him. I pointed it out and told him when riders started crapping in the woods, they can ban us.

I also walked home through after dropping the car off for its MoT the other day. Takes me past a local beauty spot and through rural roads. The hedgerows were full of energy drink and booze cans, Costa cups, wrapping, etc. Every field gateway had a pile of KFC or other st just dumped there. It looked third world.

As a left Remainer Woke type, I think these people should be dragged by the hair from their homes and shot through the head in front of their loved ones and their pov spec 1 series or smoky overboosted Leons crushed. . Utter scum.

In Slovenia they have a national holiday and for one day, they all go out and pick up litter.

Nothing like good old Great British litter, those filthy hedgerows make you proud to be British. None of this European civic responsibility rubbish, just good, honest British st.

It does seem like something we could potentially snap ourselves out of if we just broke the cycle. Litter attracts litter.

One wood near me is popular with wild campers and has a problem with human crap, and the owner has resorted to nailing little spades to the trees.

On the plus side, they are great Handwarmers when put in your pocket!
Hopefully by now, the bags should all be bio- degradable ?

We've got a small section of woodland next to a canal.

There are always bags of dog st hung from a tree, like Christmas decorations.

I am pretty sure I know who it is and have asked him about it in a friendly way and he denies it but i still regularly daydream about setting fire to his narrow boat when him and his wife are asleep.

We have about 500 yards of border with the canal towpath and I've had to give up caring. If it was next to my house I'd probably be in prison now.

I do exactly this (leave it and collect it later) but I do actually pick it up. smile

That's a great idea. But we wouldn't need such days if all we do as people is look after our own rubbish and keep our own little piece of the world tidy!
When I put my bins out on collection day, I scan the immediate area and pick any stray litter up and put in my bin.
Its seems I'm a real rarity in this regard, people just can't be arsed to pick up a tin that's literally by their feet as they put their bin out! I guess its just not cool, or they think "why I should I? Not mine rubbish".
Pathetic!

Most narrow boats have a chimney of some sort; surely the perfect place for the wood nymphs to return the fecal offering?

Not sure whether serious, but if so, a brief review of the comments on this page will show how you are perceived by many/most of us.

I can see now that the OP's question was rhetorical!

To give a personal defence, I live in rural Scotland and walk the same 5 mile route most days. No bins. Not a chance I'm carrying a bag 5 mils sorry. Also long stretches are quite rocky and barren. No flicking potential. So I'll bury the bag under some rocks, completely out of sight. I've forgotten perhaps a couple of times in past couple of years which isn't 10%, but even then will pick up next day, so my fault for exaggerating I guess.

I think OP is particularly annoyed about hanging poo from trees which is a crime like no other. This seems so distasteful it's hard not to see malice in it.
