Another collision in the New Forrest....

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-hampshire-55...

Perhaps a warning to anyone driving enthusiastically in poor weather conditions, as the unfortunate horses were supposedly licking salt from the road.

Perhaps a warning to not let ponies walk on the roads.

The main issue seems to be the salting of the roads, perhaps they should use other non destructive methods instead (sand or molasses) like they do in other countries.

What is destructive about salt?

Heard on the radio yesterday they are calling for the speed limit to be dropped from 40 to 30, still wont make much of a difference due to the idiots that speed through the forest at all times of the night and day

Usually associate Discos with entitled wannabe land owners who think they own the road. Different style of aggressive driving. Same outcome.

Do those countries also require the fitting of winter tyres?

And used to be 60 before dropping to 40

Like you say, won't stop people speeding along there (or most of the forest roads). That stretch has always been bad for wildlife, so you'd think locals would know better.

there's been a lot of fog along that stretch of road recently and being a long open road , you often get people trying to hoon ...its also a known area for camera vans .. it was fortunate for the driver he didn't hit cattle

You'd have to be mad or a complete and utter fool to drive quickly through the New Forest at any time of day, horsies and/or ponies everywhere. What a shame frown

So the answer to people not obeying the existing speed limit is to make it even lower? nuts

There’s a stretch that joins the B3056 near Beaulieu Road station with Beaulieu road that has a lovely slightly downhill section with excellent visibility to both sides but other than that yeah pretty much. The poor animals, that must have been some impact looking at what was left of the Disco.

You've clearly never been to the New Forest.
