New one today that I've not seen before and managed to identify : Blackcap
Some of them winter over now we've warmed up a bit. In the spring they sing a really nice song. To me it's a bit like robin song mixed with blackbird song. They catch me out the first few times I hear them singing.Years ago, we were near Stirling and there was a signadvertising View The Kites 7.00.We declined as they were taking a hold near Stkenchurch (c30 nmile from us)
Yesterday in Bracknell we had 7 circling over the house. Stunning birds and there are a lot more in Woodley near Reading 6ft wingspan
Got one of the wifi tv bird boxes and have a coal tit doing overnight visits.
Have now got a second one for Xmas and when we had the ivy on the garage pruned in Nov found a Robins nest with three eggs in from the summer Never even knew they were there

This appears to be the ideal thread to help me get an ID.
The bird in question was long tailed, slightly smaller and of the same proportions as a pied wagtail. Colourwise it was roughly the same olive green on its top surfaces and pale green undersides as a green woodpecker. It flew from a rowing boat moored about 50ft offshore, to the sea wall near some woods, then back again. The weather was near flat calm.
Any suggestions?
