Am I imagining it, or did someone on here say they were looking for a Shiba Inu but didn't want to pay the silly prices being asked at the moment?

If I didn't imagine it rolleyes this may be of interest:

That's a shame. We've adopted two dogs from them, and my parents adopted from them too.

They are always very busy, though, and I think they are operating on a skeleton staff at the moment.

There’s another 9 Shiba arriving in the UK from Hungary this week, I’m going to see if any of the females have a suitable temperament for tolerating our existing Japanese monster

Major mischief being planned there.

Might've been me and it's local too. There is a Shiba "breeder" locally but every review I see it's like a farm and the mother isn't treated that well. Wonder this dog is from there.

Gorseinon. The breeder I heard was in Llanybydder. It would often come up with pups for sale but comments on some pages about them weren't good.

Am still looking for a Shiba but apart from some breeders locally asking extortionate amounts there's nothing in rescue, or at least not advertised. Although some prices are still coming down and did see dogs of another breed from a breeder get dumped at a rescue as they couldn't sell them. Perhaps the breeding bubble has burst now everyone is back to work. I never stopped work but do a combo of in work and WFH. Days I'm not home, Dad will be there or when it gets a bit older, staying with him. I want to get a dog as not only do I want one but I think it will do the old man good too. Already done quite a bit of research, asked dog owners general costs, how to socialise, etc. Some good day cares near me which are apparently good to help socialise. In terms of when to get one it's as ideal as it's going to be.

Just curious, but can I ask why you're so set on a Shiba Inu? This is the only one I've ever seen in rescue, and I look at rescue websites a lot(!) KC stats suggest there aren't huge numbers being bred.

What is that attracts you to this breed in particular? Not trying to be confrontational or judgmental, genuinely curious....

A great Uncle and aunt had one years ago on the farm. They had sheepdogs for years but one day I went up there and he had a Shiba. Never said where he got it from but knowing him, someone gave him it as a pup for payment for work he'd done for someone. Was an awesome dog, even lasting until late teens.

What also appeals, shedding aside is that they are fairly clean dogs and have a bit of something about them. I like how vocal when they don't like something and how intelligent they are. Like they are a manageable size. Not massive but not tiny and still a proper dog.

Thanks I'll keep an eye. Feel a little conflicted if they come from Hungary as some people say to go rescue and don't buy from bad breeders here but surely this is the same thing with extra steps?

The last batch were rescued breeding dogs, some really run down Sheebs, Janice seems to get them all sorted before rehoming,
I have met a couple from the last batch in January and they have come on so much, not for inexperienced or people short on time though id eager
