My new stray cat
Discussion
A scruffy cat turned up at my in laws gaff yesterday looking very scruffy and forlorn but they already have a stray that's moved in called Smokey.
They've called the new stray Bandit which is awesome.
She's a beautiful little thing, extremely friendly. Clingy really.
She is very unkempt and dirty and struggles to eat but is ravenous all the time. Constantly dribbles and has food round her mouth. She's a bit like me in that respect.
We've contacted the cats protection league who are arranging a vets appointment to get her checked and hopefully sorted out so she can feed and get herself sorted. CPL reckon she could have a broken jaw.
She doesn't purr either.
Will keep you posted but all being well, we'll get her sorted and in a few weeks she'll be right as rain.

Lovely markings.
Looking forward to updates
Thanks. She was very dishevelled yesterday and forlorn but after a good night's sleep she was looking much happier today. Extremely affectionate and spent the evening lying on me. Looking forward to updates
She absolutely stinks bless her and is very messy still but this morning she was cleaning which is the first time we'd seen her groom.
The cats protection league took her to the vet today and they're doing a biopsy on something under her tongue. This is stopping her eating and drinking properly so she's dehydrated and only weighs 2.5kg.
We are hoping to get her back tomorrow and await the results. Fingers crossed she can be treated and live a lovely happy life with us.

What if she’s microchipped?
She's not chipped, the CPL checked. If she was chipped, we would have contacted the previous owner. Not that makes a difference. My in laws other stray (Smokey) was chipped and the previous owner was contacted and said she'll come and collect but never bothered. A woman of the cloth as well. Mind you we're quite happy as he is a beautiful cat.
Thanks for all the kind words. All being well we'll get Bandit back today and start to fatten her up a bit and fingers crossed she'll be OK.

Soapy might have been more appropriate
Definately needs a good scrub...I follow this YouTube channel in Brooklyn, NY
Thanks all. She's back with us now and the vet has taken out a bit under her tongue for a biopsy. She wasn't really cleaned by the vet which was disappointing.
She still can't eat properly. We've blended fish, hand fed her ham but she can get it in her mouth but a lot drops out. She's got milk to drink too.
I'll speak again to CPL about a solution as the poor thing is starving.
She is a very sweet cat though. Good as brass. Found her in my son's bed this morning curled up so clearly happy to be around people. I really hope we can get her sorted as we love her already.

I've only ever done it with a rabbit, which is probably a bit more compliant than a cat, but could you syringe feed her (with a large syringe, like those for Metacam)?
Thanks mate. We did try that but she tries to eat the syringe and dribbles the food out. Also the vets don't recommend feeding cats with syringes. Having said that, the fact she's barely consuming anything means were desperate. She's had a bit today though, some fish and scrambled eggs.
What a gorgeous cat black and white cats are simply the best in my opinion. I have a 15 year old boy that getting on in age proper grumpy old cat but still make us laugh. He also has a girlfriend cat who is pretty much identical too him whom visits most days.
Good luck with your new overload hope she comes through and can have a happy new life with you.
