Show off your loveable, odd little friends here.
Having recently bought a house with 2 hens (one now dead) and a cockerel I found myself thrown into poultry life. Never thought these goofy little st machines would get such a hold on me.
I’ll start..
Clive, Maude, Ethel, Horrible whitey, (Not pictured)((The one pictured is cool) and Mavis.
I swop their names around as I see fit except for Clive.
Plan is to convert one of my barns into a chicken palace and get to the heady and obsessive heights of 20 chicken pals.
The floor is yours...

Have 3, Jennifer, Clarissa & Nigella. Bought at 3 month olds during the summer, just starting to lay now. Nigella (speckled black one) lays blue eggs.

Started out with a small house, they now have a 3x3m pen and waiting for some fence improvement to allow some garden roaming.

I'll almost certainly be looking to rehome caged hens when I've completed the barn. https://freshstartforhens.co.uk/

The tricky bit is when you end up with multiple cockerels. The day comes when someone has to go.........Having recently bought a house with 2 hens (one now dead) and a cockerel I found myself thrown into poultry life. Never thought these goofy little st machines would get such a hold on me.

Sunday lunch is mealworms thrown in with the fresh sawdust, keeps them busy for ages

Going to do away with the small house soon, need to get some pallet wood to build a house about 4ft off the deck for snoozing and laying, The pen is waterproof and fairly windproof, they prefer to sleep outside whatever the weather but I put them away each night, hopefully can build something to keep them warm that they will perch in without assistance.

They are cool creatures to watch, so inquisitive, I started with half a dozen ducks on folk farm when at school, then got an incubator & discovered I could buy eggs from eBay! Ended up with quite a few weird & wonderful birds, then an opportunity to go commercial came & I killed the hobby flock & got 8,000 free rangers, then another 12,000!
as 2020 keeps on giving..... https://basc.org.uk/avian-influenza/?utm_source=BA...
