My 10 year old step daughter went along with her grandfather on a DIY job he was doing. The customer had a bird in a small cage and said he was going to either kill it or release it in the garden, so she brought it home with her biggrin

This pic is it after its been moved to a bigger cage, it was in a tiny one.

So now she's saved it and brought it home we're stuck with it. I know some birds should be kept in pairs and some shouldn't... can someone help and tell me what I have here and if I need to get down the pet shop and get other one smile

Well done on the rescue,no idea on the bird but looks canary like.

Suspect you need a much bigger cage. Needs some toys, water dispenser, possibly a cuttlefish. Don’t shoot me I’m no expert.

I'll look into the cage size, this one was just the first thing we could get our hands on via borrowing from a friend. The first cage was way smaller than this one frown

We'll be going to the pet shop tomorrow to get toys and treats and whatnot smile. I'll have a look while I'm in there to see if they have similar birds

Get a close up on your phone and shop the pet shop staff.

Looks very like a canary. If you get it a pal/mate, try listening to a roller canary - they sound outstanding.
