Hoping this is the right place to ask for advice. I’ve just moved from an estate to a coupe and though my best pal won’t often be travelling in said coupe, there will be occasions when he does.

I am going to buy a harness to attach to the seatbelt but I’m sure there will be folk on her to advise on best product and safest way to convey the little bugger. Thanks for any advice

I have this one. Though my Lab does travels in the boot, but in the event I need him in the car, I can use it. Great harness and crash tested, plus it comes with the seat belt attachment.

We have a couple of these - https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B0023R73IU/ref...

They differ from some of the others in that they click directly into the seat belt socket without the need for a separate connection, so fewer points of weakness. They are very sturdy and have broad padded webbing to spread any forces. Our dogs are quite happy wearing them and they seem quite well made and not too expensive.

We use a Julias K9 harness with shock absorbing link to seatbelt anchor , this also doubles as a walking harness, again with the shock absorbing link .
The name/brand tag on the side of the harness can be changed for personalised tag with names etc , although that is something I would not do , the tags are on Velcro and can be also be changed for panniers , so the dog can carry its own water or poo bags.

We use perfect fit harnesses for our dogs. We had a Julius9 one, but found it never fitted properly. With the perfect fit you can have multiple adjustments, and if your dog grows you can change various pieces rather than buying a new harness.

For the car they both go in the boot, but if they need to go in the back seat they have a seatbelt clip.

We tried that harness , and found if the dog went into reverse for some reason or other , she could slip the harness .
For a time we used 2 leads just incase ,one on the harness and one on her collar .
Not had any trouble with the Julius K9 and with Velcro on the adjustment straps , infinite settings for the dogs comfort

I only use the harness in the car. I don't want to give my dogs anything to pull me with so they get led by their necks.

Who me ?

One problem I found with small dogs is that a loop seatbelt attachment causes problems with inertia belts. The idea is to pass the belt through the loop attachment and then fit it into the anchor. This forces the loop lower and dog is forced lower. I've got a mod which comprises of an old dog collar around one part of the belt. Problem I have is finding a short strong belt.
