My 4yo male Yorkie has always suffered skin conditions and we have tried various things through the vets. I have changed his food to Hypo ranging from Royal Canin and Hills to Wellbeloved and this has helped slightly.

Now after reading online it appears raw may be a good alternative to assist with skin conditions in dogs but it looks like it is geared towards working dogs and not pet dogs. Is it advisable for a pet dog?

I have two Boston Terriers on raw - certainly not working dogs!
The kind of dog that has to sleep all day because they’re tired from sleeping all night....

Frenchie and 2 "Yorkie Russells" here.

The Frenchie and eldest "Yorkie Russell" are on raw and have been for the majority of their life with no issues at all and I'd say is a great indicator of their condition as we get very favourable comments as to how they both look, (Frenchies do suffer with skin allergies, ours doesn't).

The youngest "Yorkie Russell" is on an 80/20% kibble as raw doesn't agree with her.

None are working dogs, obviously!!

Many vets have an issue with raw feeding, not sure why though, give it a go and see how you get on.

Oh another benefit of raw is their farts don't smell and their poo's are A) solid and B) very small.

And if you don’t fancy giving wet raw, you can get dried raw - still 100% raw but dried to resemble kibble.
Slightly more expensive.

Our 2year old yorkie is on a raw mixed with grain free kibble diet. Got him at 6 months old, fed him on what his original owner was using and his poos were always runny, and he seemed to itch alot, swapped him over to same diet my German Shepard is on and he's been fine ever since. Had a inclination he has a wheat intolerance though never had it checked. Does still get iffy bowels if my other half gives them crappy cheapo treats though.

Our lurcher/deerhound cross is on raw and has been since we had her at about 5 months old as she had terrible upset stomach on anything else. She's been fine with it and does some very long walks etc. The vets always seem to have a negative opinion of it though!
