Just sharing ...

Police have found at least 15 dogs while carrying out a police raid in Orpington, and need the help of Londoners to return them to their owners.

The series of dogs found have been confirmed stolen, or at suspected to be.

Ha ha, good to see them saying which section of society the raid involved! There's a thread elsewhere about this too.

Fantastic. Good to see one has already found it's way home. Will keep everything crossed for the others.

As for where they were seized from, best not say what my true feelings are about this particular group....

Bromley MPS Tweeted: "We have got one back back home.

"A fantastic reason as to why you should ID Chip your pets.

"Thanks to Micro Chip ID, this gorgeous little one has now been restored to her loving home after being stolen, following our raid in Orpington #ForeverHome #ChipYourPets."

A chip is only a 30 quid scanner and a scalpel away from removal.

You should always chip them of course but putting measures in place to prevent them being nicked in the first place would be more sensible, along with a collar with an engraved number on it.

I think the 'count' is nearer 50 now - and they are the scum of the earth,

https://www.newsshopper.co.uk/news/18715620.49-sto...
.

My next door neighbour (farmer) had his Aussie Shepherd stolen recently. Tracker dog located it in a 'site' about 3 miles from us. Thankfully after a huge SM campaign and poster campaign around that location - it was returned and tied to his gate 4 days later. One of the lucky ones

All dogs should be chipped - it's a legal requirement and there's really no excuse to not do that, they can also have ear tattoos.

For those not on FB...
Officers are appealing for anyone who thinks they may own any of the dogs rescued during a warrant in Quedgeley yesterday (Friday 12 February) to come forward as the investigation continues.
Initial enquiries, including checks on microchips, have been carried out on 15 adult dogs recovered at a location in Naas Lane but no owners have yet been traced.

Images of the dogs won’t be released at this stage of the investigation.

I don't have the patience to commit to being responsible for a pet particularly one such as a dog but i do like them, but as an outsider I can often appreciate doggy people overstating things.

But there's something about the magnitude of indifference, a psychotic lack of empathy, in people who choose to systematically steal peoples pets, that makes you wonder how you share the same basic genetic blueprint.

I was going to write something original but you’ve just captured perfectly what I wanted to say.

We've had two English Bulldogs stolen in the past.
Bonny, a sweet little girl, was never seen again. weeping

A few years later, Moses, was a huge lad who we could never manage to house train and so lived outside in his heated kennel.
He was taken one night but found wandering the streets very late the next night.
A wonderful couple from out of town saw him and took him to the local police station.
The Police scanned and called us but asked us to please hurry as they had fed him and, true to form, he started producing dog eggs immediately. laugh

Whoever stole him had taken a number of actions to try to disguise him.
Due to his toilet routines, and on this occasion, the fact that he was suffering from the runs, we believe that the wife of the thief had told him to get that 'bcensoredy' thing out of their house an so just kicked him out. rofl

Remarkably one of these dogs was mine, the female JR, she was reunited with us two weeks after going missing, somewhat shell-shocked and a lot thinner but I'm happy to say has settled back in ok.

As an elderly JK who is partly sighted, partly deaf and with a heart murmur requiring daily medication all the more surprising that she was taken. At the time she was reunited with us, a few weeks ago, we were the only owner from this group of recovered dogs to have been traced. Apparently none of these dogs had active chips, our JR was a rescue dog, she was chipped but indicated as having "no data". Although not common knowledge I'm sure that the perpetrators of such thefts have a method on deleting data from chips.

That's amazing to hear! I'm so pleased for you (and your dog). What a shame not many others had been returned to their owners - hopefully some might have got in touch and been able to identify their dogs.

I spoke to both the policewoman who was on the raid and to the local authority who were actively involved, this was a week after the rescue of these dogs. At at that point ours was the only one identified and that was only due to the diligence of those involved in the rescue who found our facebook listing from the day she disappeared. By luck of timing the police raid that recovered these dogs was just a few days after our JR (Dora) went missing, this was 50 miles away, I doubt she would otherwise have survived. Disturbingly I can only think of one reason why you would steal an elderly JR.

We all know the emotions when you lose a pet, this was especially so for my wife and daughter and particularly so for my daughter who had been out walking the dogs at the time. We had only taken on Dora in October, she belonged to an aunt who went into care and died in December, as you might appreciate circumstances in which we felt all the more obligated to care for her elderly JR. As an unexplained disappearance you hang on to hope for 24 hours or so, but it was that bitterly cold week in Feb and after a day or two we were resigned to the inevitable. You can imagine the roller-coater of emotions to get a call out of the blue two weeks later!

Dora had her 15 minutes of fame, regional TV news latched on to the good news story, the local rag ran it as front page news, people who had helped search on the day of her disappearance came round to meet her and so on. These pictures were taken shorty before she was taken. We are very lucky to have had this positive outcome and Dora restored to her happy retirement!
