Hi all, like most our dogs are 99% house trained, however, on odd occasions they will have eaten something that makes them sick or the other end. . . . we need to replace our carpets what type/brand have people found bullet proof if and when accidents happen? ( don't want laminate ) Thanks in advance

Stone or solid Oak.

Since getting 2 GSDs, nearly all the carpet has been removed. I find carpet incompatible with dogs!

We quickly removed our carpets and replaced them with woollen rugs that could be replaced easily after a couple of years of mopping up little accidents - one of many compromises if you don’t want to be annoyed by puking/weeing Labradors!!

Do not get a round IKEA rug.

Our retriever managed to strike a bulls eye on ours the first night we unrolled it

Yeah carpets are pretty grim even without a dog!

We have a mix of stone and wood everywhere with rugs that can be easily taken outside to shake/clean/jetwash/replace as necessary.

I’ve been in the carpet trade for 30 years and if you wish to have a carpet then this is the technical specification you want. Ask for a solution died polypropylene (not polyester) carpet with synthetic backing. This will allow you to clean the carpet with neat bleach and have no affect on colour. It’s possible that over the years the backing may become weak as the adhesive is affected by bleach in the long run so you don’t want anything more than lightweight - maybe £7 per square metre. Get a mate to fit it, I wouldn’t buy it from Carpet Right or Tapis or any retail park outlets. Online. Any underlay needs to be impervious and if that’s what you have down already it won’t need changing.

If I could buy you a pint for that info I would. . . cheers
