Hi all

We have two rescue cats, had them about 4 years so they are about 4.5 years. Both seem happy and playful but one is skinny and absolutely stinks. He just walked past the couch and out the door and i can still smell his breath a few minutes later. Its like roadkill.

Obvious answer is to get him to a vet which we will try but he is super scared of everything and very nervous. Slightest sign that something is amiss and he legs it.

from what ive read it could be kidneys or rotten teeth. Smells like the latter to me, but it is rank.

Anyone else had this with their cat?

thanks
Mike

Open his mouth and inhale his breath. You will find the answer or smell his arse. It's not rocket science. It needs to see a vet.

done that - problem definitely on the inlet side rather than exhaust.

Oddly doesnt seem so bad this morning.

Will aim to get to a vet but its not an easy matter as he is a terrified of his own shadow and is very fast.

It's probably tooth decay, that can be really smelly especially if food sticks to the teeth. Cats seem to struggle with soft food, they don't seem good at chewing. I wonder how long it'll be before vets are back to normal?

My cat is going to the vets tomorrow for her teeth to be cleaned/possible extraction.

If your cats breath stinks that bad just take her to your vet. Ever had toothache? Not something you want to leave as its fking painful.

My cat hates the vet, but I simply look at it that's its in her best interest. Far worse to ignore painful conditions that obviously need medical treatment.
