I have been keeping a list of the destruction she has bestowed upon my house and belongings which follows below for your amusement:

Mac charger
Phone charger
Floor lamp (destroyed wiring)
Ate holes in the lounge carpet
10m hdmi cable
Phone charger x4
Decapitated a couple more mac chargers
Large wicker basket
Mac charger (another one)
Small wicker basket
Holed hall carpet in 2 places
Rubber Seal for new shower
Extension lead
Power cable to site lights. And again after my Dad had fixed it.
Power cord to hoover
Smashed a pint glass
Camera lens cap
Chewed the wooden end of the stairs
Shredded Countless kitchen & toilet rolls and puppy pads
Destroyed 2 pairs of shoes
Holed 10 pairs of socks (min)
Dug up and killed 8 shrubs / numerous Poppys
Hid 2 cutlery forks in the garden (buried them)
1 leather belt
A couple more chargers
1 collar
1 bar of soap (really)
Chewed holes in to a duvet cover
Destroyed and scattered numerous Catalogs, spreading them round the house.
Ate the bottom corner of my bed
Ate some of the slats from the same bed
Chewed through the wire to an extension lead under the sofa causing the circuit break to trip several times for a seemingly random reason. (Took a while to find that).
Bit through 2 ruf wear leads, 1 five times over, the other was 2 days old.
Chopped the garden hose pipe in half
Destroyed 2 pairs of shoes
Ate the bristles of a year brush
Ate various hoover attachments
Severed the wire of the work laptop mouse
Severed the wire of the work laptop charger
Chewed through the co-ax cable to the tv in my bedroom
Bit the phone cable to the broadband router, causing 2 weeks of slow broadband and a major headache

Finally, last week, she ate my favourite (well, only) pair of Oakley sunglasses. My two younger brothers bought me them for my 30th birthday and have lasted 12 years of abuse. cry (sentimental value)

But, today, I think she has raised the bar....

Whilst I was repairing the fence in the back garden this morning, following last nights high winds, she disappeared under the gate at the back of my car port, reappearing 2 mins later. This isn't unusual, she generally crawls under it, barks at intangible things and reappears.
However, she did reappear with an oily smudge on her front leg which I considered and dismissed as being inconsequential. Having repaired the garden fence as best I could, I decided to take Sam(antha) for a walk.

Closing the front door behind us, I thought about the oily smudge and something clicked in the back of my mind:

"She wouldn't have.... couldn't have... she's not paid any attention to them in all the 4 months I've had her".....

"please no...."

But peering over the front gate and my fear was confirmed....

The little sod had pulled a 5 litre can of old engine oil over and chewed through the cap, reading the entire contents over the concrete slab (and the rear tyres of my car)....

Having spent 4 hours cleaning it up, I now have a secondary problem. The concrete, being porous, has absorbed some of the oil slick.

I was planning to tile the car port using some cheap tiles I picked up recently, but I am concerned they won't adhere to the contaminated concrete.

If anyone has any suggestions as to where this is a valid concern or how to clean the remainder up, I would be grateful.

Also, would anyone like a Beagle???

Rotten luck.
No nonsense degreaser from screwfix, a hot pressure washer and some form of water extraction?

Most likely from working dog stock.

Had similar issues though nowhere near as sever (mutt was eating important mail after moving in to new house).

I called it The Houdini Dog, chewed it's way out of rooms etc.

English Springer Spaniel with working parents.

Dougie.

p.s. It ain't gonna get any better in the next year.

Hopefully that latest entry will be the end of it, OP. As it sounds as though your dog has now bitumeny things...

Time.
Oil stains on my driveway seem to become invisible after a few weeks. I've given up caring.

Dogs only chew things if they are bored. Perhaps try looking after it?

Completely untrue.

Puppy's teethe. Chewing things is an entirely natural process as a puppy goes through the process of shedding its puppy teeth and enduring the pain of adult teeth coming through.

There are proper teething chew toys that can be bought to aid the process.

I'm going through this phase at the moment with our Border Terrier.

Our new puppy is 11 weeks old, and like all puppies, is chewing anything he can get hold of. We’ve just been super disciplined and moved anything and everything at his level, apart from his toys. So far the only thing he’s destroyed are a few plants in the garden. A raw chicken wing for lunch also works wonders for his temperament.

Gratuitous pic.

They used to be a lot calmer when they were allowed to smoke cigarettes, but health and safety put a stop to that.

Ours never destroyed anything but then he was kept in the kitchen or crate whilst he was a puppy and never left unattended. We were a little paranoid as had just put in a new kitchen (still can’t believe how much that cost!) Think we just got lucky with the dog.

This. It isn't human, it's a dog. They need to be taught boundaries, this takes time and effort. Or let the cute, cuddly anthropomorphic dog run riot around the house. Many choose the latter then scratch their heads or worse get rid.

Get it trained, you'll love it more.

Haha unlucky OP. Buy more toys or a pigs ear. They wont let that go for anything until it's gone.

This was my dads dog at the time but years ago I got a brand new iPhone 3G. Saved for its release and paid cash on release day, no contract. £500 was alot to a student, especially back then. Took me months to save for release day. Obviously I was being careful as it was my first ever computer in my hand phone.

Day 2: I sat it by my side on the floor as I laid on the sofa. The puppy who had just been out on his long walk decided to unload a full pee all over it and break it. Not taking insurance was a slight mistake at that point... back to the flip phone..

She is (from working stock), I also one what I was getting myself into when I chose her. Despite her being my first dog, I didn't make take the decision lightly nor did I get her because I thought the dog on the beagle street advert looked cute. I've cared for one in the past and it was equally as "challenging"...
