My 9 year old mini schnauzer Scrabble was taken very ill a couple of days ago; a sudden onset of sickness & bloody diarrhoea, putting her into shock. Happily she's on the mend and coming back from the vet after 3 days in 'hospital' today.

The vet did various tests and was slightly vague about the diagnosis; said it was a mix of acute hepatitis and pancreatitis; she's been sent home with antibiotics, antacids, antioxidants and painkillers. Oddly, she suffered a very similar bout of sickness almost exactly one year ago (early May). I know schnauzers are prone to pancreatitis, but she's been on a low fat diet and otherwise very healthy since May 2019.

The fact she's been sick with the same, somewhat mysterious, illness on roughly the same week in 2019 and 2020 got me wondering whether it was something environmental? We don't use any chemicals in the garden, but I'm wondering if she's eating something poisonous that flowers/fruits in early May? If so, I'd love to identify any potential risks so I can eliminate them in time for May 2021!

Any ideas?
