I wondered about that aspect to, deeply. These aren't herbivores to be eaten but apex predators facing extinction. They're not being consumed for meat or the hides being used for leather. That stuff's thrown away. They're being bred for bones, medicine and wine. Viagra's cheep as chips as is wine. Tigers aren't, if you can breed them, then breed them for conservation not cheap thrills for the rich

As an aside, a rule of nature is to not eat apex predators. You absorb all their toxins etc.
