Cloudy eye (dog)
Discussion
My 12 year old Lakeland terrier has suddenly developed a cloudy 'band' across one of her eyes. The same eye has always suffered discharge and it's become worse since the cloudiness appeared.
The obvious response is cataract but I wonder if it may be something else given it's a sort of 'band' rather than a central cloudiness and that it's come suddenly and hand in hand with an increased discharge. Otherwise she's fit and well and showing no ill effects.
I would visit the vet but for obvious reasons do not wish to do that at the moment.
Any vets in the house able/wish to comment?
Cheers

Sounds very similar to a problem our dog has.
I cant remember the medical term for it, but basically the tear duct isnt producing any lubrication for the eye.
Rufus started with a bit of a grey band across his eye, which then developed in to an ulcer on the eye.
Like you describe, the eye started out by getting gunked up and once the greatness appeared we assumed it to be a cataract too, but it absolutely was not that.
He has been prescribed Maxitrol by the vets and we also put Lumecare Carbomer lubricating drops in his eyes a few times a day too.
It's quite a simple test for the vet to carry out should you be able to get your dog in to see one right now.
