I'm all into being a Prepper now and wanting to do that also with my dog, went down to Tescos for survival rations for both of us.

Toilet paper ... no.
Pasta ... no
Rice .. no
Cheap dog food that gives him windypops ... yes ... more than yes. beer

Are people not thinking about their dogs whilst the zombie apocalypse approaches?

Shame on them !

We will be happy though, bought him st loads ... it was on special offer !

SAUSAGES

As you can see he is a hunting dog so we can both hunt in unison around Sevenoaks when the time comes. Him with his teeth and me with my spear and trusty helmet.

If I can get him out of bed then he can prey on poor suspecting Waitrose people looking for that last bag of dried pasta ...

My two have mail order frozen raw - I’ve ordered another small freezer and will bring the next food delivery forward a few weeks.

Mine eats nearly 1.5kg a day and our freezer is not big enough for more than 10 days worth.

He may have to switch to dry if it all kicks off and I’ll put up with his sulking.

Not that big!!

A 51kg lean Rottweiler, always eaten a lot, it was weighed out frozen so a decent percentage of that is water too. 700g in the morning, 700g in the evening and a duck neck for a snack, tooth cleaning treat.

Once a week we don’t feed him for 24 hours though, gives him chance for a clear out.

If it gets bad I may eye his food up anyway wink

Is fasting a dog a thing nowadays?

Yoshi is on a kibble prescribes by vet so we have a big bag of that, and may have a couple of huge bags of normal stuff in the garage, an enormous bag of his favourite baked treats and a load of cheese so he will be fine, not been that interested in any fresh when we’ve tried him but if it goes tits up there’s a peacock farm in the village & we’ll be sharing them

just replaced two fence panels after recent storms, but local cats have not realised that they are fair game in rear garden, so there's a source of exercise and food for Lexi. madTo a jrt, a 6 ft panel is a minor inconvenience, if there's a cat on top of it.

If the power fails?

With all the madness going on it won’t take much.

I’d read it a while ago and found that it kept him trim. I think it just gives his stomach a chance to completely empty.

He doesn’t seem to mind as he has never had actual meal times really.

It seems to work well for him and he has stayed in really good condition.

Fasting is a recognised way to 'feed' with regards raw feeding, not usually for kibble fed dogs.

I think if you are to fast a dog for a day a week you need to look at their weekly intake not daily amounts.
My beagle is on raw and is fed at the lowest g/kg point per day, 7 days a week. To drop a day for fasting he would have to go to the high end to make up the total calorific value over the week if he wasn’t to loose weight.
Besides, Given he already thinks his throat has been cut between meals I think he might not be happy to drop a day! Like humans every dog is different...

Amazon delivered 100lbs of kibble today, so I must like a total hoarder. In truth, it doesn't last very long with a pair of German Shepherds with a combined weight of 200lbs!
