One of our friends has just warned us that we need to be careful when our walking locally as this week he has had 4 ‘professional’ dog walkers with a total of 26dogs between them walking on his farmland.

Hugely irresponsible - I’d be very concerned if I encountered them if I had my kids/dogs with me.

Dogs behave well in packs and usually play around with each other for the fun of it. I appreciate the number may be daunting at first but it's clear all the dogs are well behaved as evidenced that they come from different packs and many different households.

There are rules & regs about how many dogs a dog walker can have with them at one time. Whether those are enforced is another matter. I'm not sure but they may be local authority rules so may not be nationwide. But most set a limit of 4 per person.

Our Dog Walker is licenced to 6 per person. She walks with her husband and so they can take a max of 12 but often they might only have 10 as a max.

26 dogs in one place does seem a bit much, but nothing against it.

Our dog walker is 5 max. She has stopped for the time being to have a baby so rather than another walker he goes to a dog care lady that has him when we are on holiday as we trust / know her well and he is happy with her as been with her since he was a puppy.

All the other dog walkers in my area seem to use the same places at the same time so its mental and I wouldn't say its much enrichment for them.

6, or even 5 per person is ridiculous, there is no way you can realistically hope to control them all if something happens. Moreso when they're not even your dogs, and won't know each other particularly well.

If I need to walk dogs that might be a bit of a handful in the shelter I work in, I only walk them one or two at a time, on leads. And thats in an entirely fenced in and locked land that I own, zero risk of meeting members of the public, cats, unknown dogs, etc etc. These are dogs I see all day every day so I would like to think I have a far better background on their behaviour, and them more likely to listen to me etc too.

I guess the difference is I'm not being paid per dog though biggrin

I think anyone walking 6 at a time for money is just plain greedy. There isn't any legitimate reason to be doing it.

I meet lots of them, never had an issue yet. Wish I could say the same for the average dog walker walking their 1 or 2 dogs.

26 dogs faeces is less likely to be spotted and bagged than 4 dogs. Council will probably start charging professional dog walkers soon, like they did the army fitness bloke who used the local park here for classes in the morning. Cheeky.

20 well behaved dogs wouldn't bother me in the slightest. If they recognise the pecking order then all's fine. I'd expect a dodgy dog to be at home or on a leash.

I'd prefer to bump into 20 dogs rather then 20 blokes. There could be a Barrymore amongst them.

Why would someone running a fitness class in a park bother you?

Presumably none of the customers were stting on the grass or chasing cyclists biggrin

If people are getting healthy and he's earning a few quid, good luck to him!

Had a similar issue with a silly greyhound rescue place using my local park as a showroom and walking up to 25 dogs with potential owners. All stupid and ignorant people oblivious to their obstruction of others. I would personally ban dogs from public parks.

All the dog walkers I meet have messenger style bags for treats & carrying the inevitable bags. They have to make a good impression or their reputations would be destroyed on soshal meeja.

If they forget about impressions and bagged the ste it would be better for all concerned.

Why?

There will still be no turds on the grass. I couldn't care less why someone picks up, as long as they do.

Woody John has issues methinks. I bet he stood in some greyhound dog st lol.

25 dogs with 25 owners on the public park with other folks. They should ban him for being antisocial . He needs to calm down before he upsets normal relaxed people. ;-)

Some walkers had multiple dogs and were clueless.
The council were contacted and the issue was sorted.

I did notice a large amount of purple and pink haired women and gimpy men among the group.
Greyhounds seem to attract losers as owners.

Who me ?

I'd suggest that dog owners/walkers on council property might consider looking at external problems of safety to the dogs- groups of idiot cyclists for example.
