Hi,

Cassie is a staffie cross and is prone to mild grass sensitivity on her paws - kept under control with weekly antiseptic paw washes and occasional piriton.

Today, we did a woodland walk we do every couple of weeks and she went bonkers back at home. Frantic paw chewing, face rubbing on carpet and charging round the house - she normally sleeps!
I did a paw wash and gave her a piriton but after an hour she was no better and panting heavily so took her to the vets. Quick check over an hour later and given the all clear. She had calmed down by then but still wasn't 'right'

Other dog not affected - both off lead but Cassie roamed a little wider including a couple of minutes out of sight.

So, given it's winter so nettles should be gone and no spring growth yet, what do you think caused it?

Don’t know but logan and jean sometimes do the same minus paw biting.

Logan rubs his face on his blankets but the first thing they do is run in garden for more play though.

If it is nettle sting or you're not sure, (we have new nettle growth here, SE London) try cucumber sliced and rubbed on the pads.
Also maybe try Musher's Secret.

Rather than the medication are there not boots to wear that will alleviate this? I know that it a pain but she will get used to it and not too much hassle putting them on?

I've had a closer look at the undergrowth and there are plenty of nettles still there so I'm going to blame them and the mild winter.

She was only in there for a minute or so and has never had such an extreme reaction. Oh well, I'll know for next time and keep her on the lead!
