Usually when we go away a neighbour looks after our cat, but I’ve just booked a weekend break for the end of the month and they are not able to on this occasion.

So it’s a stay at the cattery for her (the cat, not the neighbour). I’ve booked her in and the confirmation email says to bring her vaccination record. I’ve just dug it out and it looks like the last one was in 2011. Whoops. I’ll take her round to the vets in the morning, but I was wondering what to expect. Will it just be a single jab, or as there has been such a long gap, will they try and sell me a whole course of vaccinations? She’s perfectly healthy and I just want the basics to pass muster at the cattery.

My vet would allow a bit of a lapse - but measured in months rather than years!

I think they'll treat it as an unvaccinated cat, which means 2 courses with probably a month in between (so make sure you do it in time).

If it’s a month between jabs then I’m stuffed. I’ll have to see if I can get one of these services round that feeds and mucks out your cat while you are away. The cat would probably prefer this anyway.

We recently adopted a cat that had not been vaccinated.

The gap between injections was 10 days.

Good luck

It wasn't too bad in the end at £45 for both injections. The second one can be done just a day before we go away, which the cattery were happy with.

OP, do you have a PetPals or the like in your area?

When we lived out in Saffron Walden we'd get Neil (The PetPals man) to come round twice a day to feed and sit with our cats (one of which had to have tablets for a thyroid problem).

Can't recommend the service highly enough, far less stress for the cat as they're in their own environment and probably a similar charge as a cattery.

Edited to say, just seen your post about this service!

Sadly not or I would have gone for it. Can’t find anything similar that covers my area either.

She’s not a big fan of the cattery, but it’s only 3 nights so she’ll survive. She’s always grateful to be brought back home again afterwards!
