Hi all just got a cat. OH is struggling to work out how to insure it and I haven't got a clue.

FWIW it's a male rescue cat now 5 months old. Chipped vaccinated neutered. We got him at 3 months he's now 5 months and has started going into the back garden. Before long he'll start exploring further afield and course there are nearby roads. Most are 20 limits.

Want to insure him against injury (roads/fights/falls).

Suggestions?

I posted about Pet Insurance last week too, it's very daunting.

My daughter having lost 14 week old Honey 10 days ago it's become something I think I ought to sort out. Thankfully Honey's brother pulled through but vet bill was huge. Having indoor only cats I'd never really worried about insurance as they are more at risk of an RTA than illness but that bit us on the ar$e big style so now thinking it's about time I insure my cats.

So much choice/variations to look at that I got overwhelmed and stopped. Really need to go back and start again.

One thing I would recommend is keeping him in your garden if you're worried about his safety. Highly recommend katzecure fencing as had it 4 years now and my lot cannot get out the gardens and neighboring cats cannot get in.

Thanks. Yes of is daunting. I'm having a similar problem working out my new mobile phone plan....

Cant do the fencing unfortunately as ive just replaced.

My cat has already gone in the neighbours back garden......

Hence insurance.

The katzecure goes on top on normal fencing panels so if you have new solid fencing you are more than half way there. It is poles that roll so the cat cannot get over the top and drops back to the ground.

FWIW went with Lifetime Pet Cover (the company). £16 a month for £6k cover a year, lifetime cover of diagnosed issues.

No idea if that's right but as the little ********* nearly fell 15 feet out of a tree yesterday probably worth it.

I think.

And did he land on his paws?

They're remarkably agile and smart/cautious when out 'in the wild' and often can come across as complete idiots when in a house

He somehow made a recovery from a ridiculous position hanging by his front paws off a spindly branch.

TBH I had a cat when I was a kid and no-one bothered about insurance.

But I've heard of some big bills from various dog and cat owners recently.

My BIL ended up paying it £2,500 for an eye injury on his cat recently.
