I'm all for protecting animals etc but i'm guessing the size of these fines is one hell of a deterrent!

And your one off observation clearly trumps lots of actual scientific research to show they are in decline and their habitats are under threat. . Weren’t so many at houses in Surrey and Sussex a few decades ago.
